What a Zi Wei chart can answer

The topic you pick above only chooses where the reading starts. It does not change the chart. Bring one question. The lines below can be rewritten for your own case.

  • The whole chart: which palaces the stars gather in, and whether the Life and Body palaces share a branch.
  • Temperament: which major stars sit in the Life Palace, and at what brightness.
  • Work: which major stars sit in Career, and whether this decade has reached that palace.
  • Money: which major stars sit in Wealth, and whether a birth-year transformation lands there.
  • Marriage and relationships: which major stars sit in Spouse, and which branch is opposite.
  • The body: which stars sit in Health. This describes a condition. It is not a substitute for medical care.
  • Decade and annual cycles: which palace this decade occupies, and which palace this year moves into.

A chart takes three steps

First, enter the birth date, the birth time, the birthplace and gender. This step fixes the birth details. It does not place stars yet.

Second, the chart restores the clock for that birthplace and converts a lunar date, including a leap month. From 23:00 the hour is already zi. That hour is not the same as 22:00, and the Life Palace moves.

Third, the standard star placement puts the fourteen major stars, the auxiliary stars and the four transformations into the twelve palaces, and counts the decade ages. What comes out is a chart you can check item by item. The AI only explains those fields. It does not move the Life Palace, and it does not invent a birth time you did not enter.

What to have ready

Four items: birth date, birth time, birthplace and gender. Without the hour, the Life Palace cannot be fixed, and the other eleven palaces cannot be laid out. Change the hour and all twelve branches move together. The stars land in a different set of palaces. One hour off is not a shift of the Life Palace alone.

If you live abroad and were born in China, still enter the birthplace. The timezone follows the birthplace, not the city you live in now.

If the birth time is uncertain, cast the two neighbouring hours and see which set of palaces is closer to a life you have already checked. Do not write an estimated clock time down as a confirmed birth time.

If you are not yet sure what the chart is reading, start with the what Zi Wei Dou Shu is.

How the Zi Wei chart is calculated

The cast turns these birth details into a chart you can check. The inputs are the date, the time, the birthplace and gender. The output is the twelve palaces, the Life and Body palaces, the fourteen major stars and their brightness, the auxiliary stars, the four transformations, the five-element bureau, and the decade and annual cycles. Compare those fields before you read the wording that follows.

fatequery lays the chart out with a fixed set of rules, then lets the AI explain only the fields already on it. Different birth details produce a different chart. The same details and the same switches produce the same chart.

Life Palace, Body Palace and the five-element bureau

The birth hour places the Life Palace on one of the twelve earthly branches. From 23:00 the hour is zi, which is not the same hour as 22:00, and the Life Palace sits one palace away. The Body Palace is placed by a separate rule. It is not a second Life Palace.

The five-element bureau is taken from the stem and branch of the Life Palace. It decides where the star Zi Wei starts, and it decides the starting age of the decade cycles and which palace each ten-year step occupies. Gender affects whether the decades run forward or back. It does not change how the fourteen major stars are placed.

Which star placement is used

The fourteen major stars are placed from the five-element bureau and the Life Palace. Brightness is temple, prosperous, gain, benefit, even or fallen. Auxiliary stars are added from the year stem and year branch. The four transformations are placed on named stars from the birth-year stem, and the chart marks the palace and the star.

One cast on this site uses this one star placement. It does not mix a second method into the same chart. A different method can put the same hour’s stars in different palaces.

Where the schools diverge is under how the chart is opened. Which line this site follows is under the star method.

Leap months, the year boundary and 23:00

A lunar date is converted with its leap-month flag before the Life Palace is fixed. An unmarked leap month is treated as an ordinary month, and the chart diverges from that step.

The year boundary decides the year stem. Change it and the four transformations can move to different stars. This site records the boundary it used. It does not silently switch to another one.

From 23:00 the hour is zi. That rule belongs to Zi Wei Dou Shu. Do not overwrite it with the day boundary used in BaZi.

True solar time

True solar time shifts the clock by the longitude of the birthplace. Near the edge of an hour, that can push the birth into the next two-hour cell, and the Life Palace moves with it.

Whether it is on is written on the chart. On and off are both possible. Neither one is a mystical bonus. If two charts disagree, check this switch before you compare the stars.

The chart and the AI reading are two steps

The chart is the calculation: palaces, stars, brightness, transformations and decade ages. The reading is an explanation of those fields. It cites the palace and the star it used. It does not invent a birth time, and it does not move a star to make a sentence smoother.

If a sentence and the chart disagree, trust the chart. Ask again about one specific palace rather than asking the model to recast it.

How to read a Zi Wei chart

Read in this order. Match each palace name to its branch, and mark which branch holds the Life Palace and the Body Palace. Then the major stars and their brightness. Then the auxiliary stars in the same palace. Then which palace holds Lu, Quan, Ke and Ji, and which star each one rides. Last, the decade in front of you now, and the palace the annual cycle has moved into.

An empty palace is not a blank life. Read it with the opposite palace and the trine. Brightness is how settled a star is in that palace. It is not a grade of luck. The Health Palace describes strain. It does not name an illness.

Palace by palace, see twelve palaces. The stars are under fourteen major stars, the additions under auxiliaries and minor stars, the four marks under natal transformations, and the ages under decade and annual layers.

The Zi Wei chart on fatequery

The Zi Wei chart on fatequery is an online cast for people learning the method. Enter the birth date, time and birthplace, and the chart is ready. You can keep it, continue with an AI reading, or look up palace and star names in the knowledge base.

The reading is written by an AI built for Zi Wei Dou Shu. It follows the line of the Ziwei Doushu Quanshu. It starts from the Life Palace and the palace you asked about, then brings in the fourteen major stars and their brightness, the auxiliary stars, the four transformations, the trines and the opposite palace, and the decade and annual cycles. The conclusion comes first, and the evidence comes after it.

Casting, studying, and questions about work, relationships, money or study can all be read as reference. If you are not sure what you can ask, start with the what Zi Wei Dou Shu is.

Common questions

What is Zi Wei Dou Shu good for?
One concrete situation: this relationship, this job, this sum of money, this decade. Put the question in one palace, then read the stars in that palace. Do not line up two unrelated matters.
The Life Palace has no major star. Is that a bad sign?
No. An empty Life Palace only means no major star sits there. Read the opposite palace and the trine. Empty is not a luck grade, and it does not mean the person has no character.
Can I make decisions from this chart?
For reference only — not a substitute for medical, legal, or financial advice. It shows structure and the choices in front of you. It does not make the decision.
I only roughly remember the birth time. Can the chart still be cast?
A different hour moves the Life Palace by one branch, and the other eleven palaces move with it. Cast the two neighboring hours and compare them. Do not write an estimated clock time down as a checked birth time.
The chart disagrees with another program. What should I check first?
Check the hour, then the time zone and whether true solar time is on, then the leap month and the year boundary, and last the star-placement method and the transformation table.
