Twelve palaces mirrored, palace by palace

What a Zi Wei synastry chart can answer

The relationship you pick, and the question you most want answered, only choose which layer the reading opens first. The same birth records keep the same palace relations and the same transformation landings. Bring one question. The lines below can be rewritten as yours.

  • Pace: are the Spouse or Siblings palaces a six-combination or an opposition? Does ordinary life run along, or does the same kind of thing keep meeting head-on?
  • Where feeling lands: does one person’s Lu or Ji fall in the other’s Spouse Palace, or in Travel or Friends?
  • Who has to move first: Quan leaves the Career Palace and enters which palace of the other chart? Where does the other person’s Ke land?
  • Where the strain sits: do opposition and punishment fall on Spouse and Children, or on Wealth and Career?
  • How practical life fits: across Property, Wealth and Career, are the branches a combination or an opposition?
  • Where the talk stops: when the Life Palace stars differ, does the gap stay on that pair, or does a transformation pull it into the Fortune Palace?

The question is how the two charts act on each other. Whether to stay together, and whether to reunite, are outside these questions.

Three steps to the comparison

The form asks for the relationship and for what you most want to see. Those two choices only decide which layer opens first. They do not enter the palace or transformation calculation. The three steps below are what produces the comparison itself.

Enter both birth records

Each person needs a birth date, time and place. The name can stay blank. It only appears in the chart heading. Order changes which side of the table is which. It does not change where anything lands.

Cast each chart, then compare palace by palace

Each birthplace supplies the timezone for that year, and two Zi Wei charts are cast. Matching branches, both sets of birth-year transformations, the major-star overlays and the element bureaus are then compared. A different birth time produces a different comparison.

Read the result with the question in hand

Start from the layer you chose, and check the palace mirrors and the direction of the transformations. The five themes are a count of how the lines were filed. They are not a compatibility score.

What to have ready

Both people need a birth date, time and place. You can enter a solar or a lunar date. A lunar date is converted before the chart is cast. For a birth outside China, use the city as it was then. The offset is that place in that year, daylight saving included. True solar time is off by default and can be turned on separately.

The hour matters. It places the Life Palace, and when the Life Palace moves the other eleven palaces move with it. A date without an hour leaves the matching palaces without a stable branch, and a transformation without a palace to enter. Do not write an estimated hour as if it had been confirmed.

Choosing overview, romance or marriage changes which palaces the reading opens first, and the order of the five themes. The same birth records keep the same palace relations and the same transformation landings.

What is compared, and what is left out, is in what Zi Wei synastry is.

How to read the result

There is no compatibility score. Read the twelve pairs of matching branches first, then the transformation list: whose Lu, Quan, Ke or Ji leaves which palace and enters which palace of the other chart. Star overlays check where the major stars landed. The element bureaus are only generate, overcome or the same phase.

The five themes file those lines under emotional bond, pace, support and pressure, practical base, and talk and decisions. Each theme is a count. It is not a mark, and the five are not added. For the wording of a question, go back to the list above.

The transformation stars are named in the four transformations. The major stars are in the fourteen major stars.

When another chart does not match

If this result disagrees with another chart, check in this order. Do not start by rewriting a star as lucky or unlucky.

Start with the hour. From 23:00 the hour is zi. One hour either way moves the Life Palace, and the whole palace table changes with it. If you only know “night”, cast the two neighbouring hours and see which one matches a chart you can check. Do not write an estimate as a confirmed birth time.

Then the timezone. Different birthplaces use the offset for that year, daylight saving included. Casting both charts on Beijing time shifts a chart born elsewhere.

Then the leap month and the year boundary. A lunar leap month, or a birth around the start of the year, changes the lunar month and the year stem. A different year stem means the transformation stars are not the same stars. Last, confirm that both charts use the same birth-year transformation table.

Why star placement and the transformation table diverge is in the year boundary.

What this comparison does not cover

It does not cast a parent and child, and it does not cast a business partnership. A question that puts a father’s, a mother’s and a child’s birth dates in one sentence is outside this comparison. So are colleagues and co-founders.

It also does not rule on whether to marry. It is not medical, legal or financial advice. Ji in the Spouse Palace is where that star landed. It is not the end of the relationship.

The boundary of the scenes is in palace mirrors. For how this differs from one chart, start with what Zi Wei synastry is.

Palace names are in the twelve palaces.

Zi Wei synastry on fatequery

Zi Wei synastry on fatequery is for opening two charts and reading them together. Enter both birth dates, times and places. The comparison stays on a link. You can continue with an AI reading, or check palace names and transformations in the knowledge base.

The reading talks only about the comparison already on the page. It follows the line of the Ziwei Doushu Quanshu and starts from the pair of palaces your question lands on, then the matching branches, the transformations in both directions, and where the major stars fell. The conclusion comes first. The evidence comes after it.

You can ask about pace, where feeling lands, or how practical life fits. If the difference between synastry and one chart is still unclear, start with what Zi Wei synastry is.

Common questions

What is Zi Wei synastry good for?
Questions about how two people act on each other: pace, where feeling lands, who brings support or pressure, and how practical life fits. Whether to stay together is yours to decide.
Can I make decisions from this comparison?
No. Branch relations and transformation landings describe structure between two palaces. They are not a verdict, and they do not predict how a relationship ends. For reference only — not a substitute for medical, legal, or financial advice.
Why is there no compatibility score?
A score is not calculated from the palaces. Weighting tables differ, and the same comparison can be turned into opposite numbers. What stays here are the palace relations and transformation landings you can check line by line.
How reliable is the comparison?
The same birth records and the same rules produce the same comparison. What is fixed is the landing and the branch relation, not how the relationship will develop. If the hour is wrong, all twelve palaces move, and the comparison moves with them.
Do both people need an exact hour?
Yes. The hour places the Life Palace on a branch, and the other eleven palaces follow. Without one person’s hour, the matching palaces have no stable branch, and a transformation has no palace to enter.
Can this be cast for a same-sex couple?
Yes. The comparison uses both birth dates and times. The romantic and marriage views are not limited by gender. What comes out is still the palace mirroring and the transformation landings.
Can I look after a breakup?
Yes. A breakup does not change two charts that have already been cast. The palace relations and transformation landings are still there. You can look back at how the two charts acted on each other. The comparison does not predict a reunion.
What if the comparison is hard to read?
Go back to where to start: write the question, then the matching palaces, then the direction of the transformations. If a palace name or a transformation still does not match, look up the twelve palaces and the four transformations. You do not have to learn the whole method first.
