Host, guest, and the five-element relation
The trigram that holds the moving line is the guest. The other trigram is the host. The five elements are only the relation between host and guest, then the month’s seasonal mark.

The trigram of the moving line is the guest
The hexagram splits into upper and lower. If the moving line is in the upper trigram, that trigram is the guest and the lower one is the host. The reverse holds when the line is below.
Moving line 5 is in the upper trigram. The guest is Qian metal. The host is Gen earth.
One relation between host and guest
Host generates guest, guest generates host, host controls guest, guest controls host, or they match. Pick one. Do not import the ten gods.
Gen earth generates Qian metal, so the host generates the guest. The engine’s note stops at the cost. It does not name success or failure.
The month marks each trigram
The seasonal mark says which of the five seasonal grades the trigram’s element has this month. Host and guest can differ.
The month element is earth. Host Gen earth is in season. Guest Qian metal is resting. Write both.

Is “host generates guest” good or bad?
Neither. It only says the host’s element generates the guest’s element.
Why is the host in season and the guest resting?
The host is earth, in season in an earth month. The guest is metal, resting in an earth month. Keep both.
Can this become a strong or weak day master?
No. Host and guest are not a day master.
